Beach extensions to Zanzibar, Diani, or Watamu add $800-$2,500. International flights from major US cities are additional, typically $1,200-$1,800.
The Great Migration is a year-round event, but the most dramatic river crossings occur July through October in Kenya's Masai Mara. For calving season (perfect for predator action), visit January-March in Tanzania's Serengeti. June is excellent for fewer crowds and lower rates while still seeing large herds.
