Common Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about planning your Kenya and Tanzania safari adventure.

How much does a Kenya and Tanzania safari cost from the USA?

Kenya and Tanzania safari packages from the USA range from $3,200 to $15,000 per person for luxury tours. This includes accommodation, meals, guides, park fees, and coffee/tea plantation tours. Beach extensions to Zanzibar, Diani, or Watamu add $800-$2,500. International flights from major US cities are additional, typically $1,200-$1,800.

What is the best time to see the Great Migration?

The Great Migration is a year-round event, but the most dramatic river crossings occur July through October in Kenya's Masai Mara. For calving season (perfect for predator action), visit January-March in Tanzania's Serengeti. June is excellent for fewer crowds and lower rates while still seeing large herds.

Do I need a visa for Kenya and Tanzania?

Yes, US citizens need eVisas for both countries. Kenya eVisa costs $51, Tanzania eVisa is $50, or you can get the East Africa Tourist Visa for $100 which covers both countries plus Rwanda. We handle all visa applications for our clients. Passports must be valid for at least 6 months beyond your travel dates with 2 blank pages.

What vaccinations are required?

Yellow Fever vaccination is required if arriving from an endemic country. We strongly recommend Hepatitis A, Typhoid, and routine vaccinations (MMR, DPT). Malaria prophylaxis is essential - consult your doctor 4-6 weeks before travel. COVID-19 requirements vary; we provide current updates before departure.

Is it safe to travel to Kenya and Tanzania?

Yes, both countries are safe for tourists when following standard precautions. We use only vetted luxury camps and lodges in secure areas, provide professional guides, and include comprehensive travel insurance. The safari areas (Masai Mara, Serengeti, etc.) are far removed from urban concerns. We monitor US State Department travel advisories daily.
